Weekends.. and dead phones

This past weekend has been pretty interesting and filled with lots of accomplishments. I am very proud to say that I had a rough Friday morning but pulled through and even snuck in three full, continuous hours of studying for a history test I had today. Friday night I went to my high schools ensemble Beauty and the Beast musical. I dressed up for the occasion and was blown away by the music, singing, stage, costumes and everything that went into the musical. It was the best production our school has ever put on and it took so much effort from so many people. It was absolutely amazing though and I was completely blown away by how amazing my good friends are!! I loved it so much, despite sitting with my mother and my old calc teacher. I miss being in the band so much and it was so good to see everyone again!
Saturday was interesting as well.. I was in the middle of two hours of studying when I got a call saying I was supposed to be selling girl scout cookies at Foodlion in Carolina Beach. Yes, I'm still a girl scout; 14 years and damn proud! Well, traditionally, after we empty a cardboard case of cookies, I take them and slide into them one by one till I wear them like a dress:)I go out in the parking lot and dance and make up these crazy songs about buying cookies. It makes the time go faster and I have a ton of fun doing it and just being utterly ridiculus, no matter how old I get!
Sunday I ended up with a stomach bug and therefore I slept the entire day.. I tried to call in to work but that phone call didn't go well with the boss lady. She told me to rest up and call her later..but for some reason or another, when I woke up around dinner time, my phone was completely blank and would not turn on. I have been without phone calls and the such for about two days and I kinda would like it back. That was fun, but I have things I was supposed to do and people I needed to meet with. I believe my parents might think I'm dead and we were supposed to be looking at apartments today and now I need to get a new phone... It just sucks. I have a hard time getting in touch with people to begin with and this just doesn't help.

No Football....

Although I'd really like so see a football team at UNCW I'm required to look into and blog about why we shouldn't have a team. I'm a band geek and would love to get involved in a marching band. The season is so much fun and we become close friends who have an amazing time.
Anywho...
Without a football team at our university there is more funding for academics, research, tuitions, and scholarships. Shouldn't that be where our financial focus should be anyway? Students attend college to gain opportunities and furthur their education. While they are at college they should have all the resources available to them that they need, when they need it and where they need it. Keeping a campus thriving and benificial is enough of a priority to be a financial focus.
Sports are a major part of student life on campus and there are enough club sports around and available to all peoples that there isn't much of a need to fund a major college football team. If a student wants to play football all they need to do is join a flag football club team or find a group of guys that you already know to go out and play a game of football. An official traveling, major competing football team would take much time from the student and, like every sport, it could either make or break a student. Some can balance sports and academics very well, while others struggle through and even hold sports above their academics.
A football team requires financial committment and the time and efforts of many.
